Maha Dangal: BJP, SP Clash Over Mosque Visit, Faith, Politics, and Appeasement Allegations

A fierce political war of words has broken out after Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav visited a mosque in Delhi alongside party MPs. The BJP accused Yadav of indulging in appeasement politics and using religious places for political gain. UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya mocked Yadav for "forgetting the skullcap," while other BJP leaders claimed the mosque visit was a calculated political move.SP spokesperson Anurag Bhadouria hit back, calling BJP "frustrated" and accused the ruling party of using religion to distract from real issues. He clarified that the mosque visit was a personal invitation by an SP MP who also serves as an Imam. “It was an expression of respect for all faiths,” he said. However, voices from the Uttarakhand Minority Welfare Board and Islamic scholars raised concerns over turning mosques into political venues. The BJP questioned whether such actions were appropriate under India’s secular Constitution. As the SP defends its inclusive approach and BJP raises the issue of misuse of religious spaces, the controversy highlights the deepening intersection of faith and politics ahead of upcoming elections.
