Breaking News: Protests Erupt in Bihar Assembly and Parliament Over Voter List Dispute
Massive protests continue both in the Bihar Assembly and Parliament over the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list being conducted in Bihar by the Election Commission. For the fourth consecutive day, Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) MLAs in Bihar arrived wearing black clothes as a mark of protest, accusing the government of facilitating electoral manipulation through this revision.Tejashwi Yadav, Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, slammed both the state and central governments, questioning the timing of the revision so close to the state elections. He also asked why only 11 specific documents are being accepted for voter verification and why Aadhaar cards and voter IDs are being excluded.Meanwhile in Delhi, members of the INDIA alliance staged a parallel protest outside Parliament. Senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi were present, amplifying the demand for a parliamentary debate on the issue. The government, however, maintains that the voter list revision is entirely under the Election Commission’s jurisdiction and since the matter is sub judice in the Supreme Court, no parliamentary discussion will take place. The opposition, rejecting this logic, continues to press for answers and accountability.
