Mumbai Crime Branch Arrests 35-Year-Old Man From Gujarat In ₹256-Crore Narcotic Drugs Manufacturing Case

Mumbai: In the Rs 256 crore narcotic drugs manufacturing case, wherein the kingpin Mustafa Kubbawala was recently extradited from the UAE, the Mumbai crime branch has arrested the alleged supplier, Brijjesh, 35, from Gujarat.

Officials said he supplied essential chemicals for the production of mephedrone (MD), a psychotropic substance. According to investigators, Brijjesh was the main supplier of raw materials to Kubbawala and another key accused, Taher Salim Dola, both allegedly behind a massive manufacturing operation that was busted in Sangli late last year.

Brijjesh was produced in a court on Saturday and remanded to police custody till July 29. He was brought to Mumbai on Tuesday. In the Sangli racket bust, 13 persons were arrested and 126.14kg MD was seized. Kubbawala had then absconded and was extradited on July 11. The operation was carried out through INTERPOL coordination, with CBI’s International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) and the National Central Bureau in Abu Dhabi playing key roles.

In the same case, Dola was brought back from the UAE on June 13. Dola is believed to be a close aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and allegedly oversaw drug operations in India.
