Good news for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fans, Indian cricket legends will be in England if…
Cricket fans all over the world are missing the Indian legendary duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on their tour of England. Team India have playing a five-match Test series against England currently without both Kohli and Rohit in their line-up.
However, there might be some good news in store for the Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fans. Both the Indian cricket legends had announced their retirement from Test cricket in the month of May this year. They have already retired from T20I cricket last year but are still very much available for the ODI format of the game.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Thursday that Team India will once again tour England next year – in 2026 – and this time it will be for a T20I and ODI series. India are set to play a five-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series against England next year.
If Rohit and Kohli are still available to play in ODI cricket till 2026 – which they should be considering the fact that they might be aiming to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup – the legendary duo will once be seen in England then, to the relief of Indian and English fans.
Apart from matches against India, England will be playing Test matches against New Zealand and Pakistan before rounding it off with six white-ball games against Sri Lanka. In addition to this, Lord’s will be playing host to a women’s Test for the first time in its history.
“I’m sure fans will be excited to watch Ben Stokes’ and Harry Brook’s England teams, the Men’s red-ball and white-ball teams both offering so much in the way of entertainment. It’s terrific to see so many different nations coming over to compete and we can expect another summer of big crowds and fantastic cricket,” ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould said in a statement.

When will Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli be in action next?
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would have been in action next month if India’s proposed three-match ODI series against Bangladesh had gone ahead as scheduled. However, that series has now been postponed to 2026.
There are reports that Team India might take on Sri Lanka in an ODI series next month in place of the Bangladesh series. If the series against Lanka goes ahead, it will be the first time that Rohit and Kohli will be in action in international cricket after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in February-March this year.
The two former India captains are also expected to be part of the three-match ODI series in Australia which is scheduled to take place in October this year.
