The initial part of 18 km will be toll free

This expressway starting from Akshardham in Delhi will pass through Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. This expressway has been built in four parts. Talking about toll, the initial 18 km part of this expressway (from Akshardham in Delhi to Loni) will be toll-free. That means passengers will not have to pay any kind of toll for this part. A 3.4 km part of the expressway has already been opened for the people.

Currently, the toll from Delhi to Dehradun is Rs 500

Right now, the toll for going from Delhi to Dehradun is around Rs 500 from one side. On the way, several toll plazas charge Rs 130, Rs 90 and Rs 75. This totals to around Rs 500. The toll charges were expected to increase after the new expressway is fully opened. But recently, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had announced an annual Fastag pass of Rs 3000. This scheme is to be implemented from August 15.

Will the Rs 3,000 pass be valid?

According to Gadkari, this pass made for Rs 3,000 will be valid for one year or 200 trips (whichever is completed first). That is, you can cross the toll plaza 200 times in a year. According to the information given by the government, it will be applicable on National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE). Now it will be seen whether any new toll charge will be announced by the government on this or not.

The new expressway will prove to be economical

The new expressway to be started between Delhi and Dehradun will prove to be economical along with reducing the travel time. Earlier its toll charge was expected to be higher than the existing route. But the central government is starting an annual Fastag pass of Rs 3,000 for private vehicles from August 15, 2025. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has already announced this. This pass will be for non-commercial vehicles like private cars, jeeps and vans. This pass, which will be made for Rs 3,000, will be valid for up to 200 trips. In this way, the cost of passing through one toll comes to Rs 15. If four toll plazas are set up on the new expressway from Delhi to Dehradun, then the toll will cost Rs 60 for a one-way journey.

When will the new expressway between Delhi and Dehradun open?

The first phase of the new expressway between Delhi and Dehradun will start from August 2025. That means you will be able to drive a car on this expressway from next month. Gadkari said that the work of the expressway is expected to be completed by October 2025. After this, from the month of October, the journey from Delhi to Dehradun will be reduced to two to two and a half hours. Currently it takes six to seven hours to cover this distance.
