Asia Cup 2025: India, Pakistan Placed In Same Group – Venue Details Out

Cricket fans eagerly awaiting a high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash may soon have a reason to rejoice. As per reports, both nations are likely to be grouped together in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.

The possibility emerged during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting, held virtually from Dhaka, with BCCI officials participating online.

According to India Today, the Indian and Pakistani teams are expected to be slotted in the same group. A key meeting is also on the cards between BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, who also chairs the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to finalize the match schedule and host venues.

UAE to Host Asia Cup 2025 Matches

As reported by News18, the BCCI is set to host the Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates. “All of India’s matches are expected to take place in Dubai,” a source revealed. However, the final schedule is still under discussion.

India-Pakistan Showdown on the Cards

Tensions had risen following the recent Pahalgam attack, casting uncertainty over India’s participation in the Asia Cup.

There were even discussions within the BCCI about opting out of the tournament. However, recent developments suggest that the roadblocks have been cleared, potentially setting up another highly anticipated India-Pakistan encounter. Traditionally, the two teams only face off in major tournaments like the ICC World Cup or Asia Cup.

Although earlier reports claimed the BCCI had requested not to place India and Pakistan in the same group, the latest update suggests the two sides will indeed share a group, ensuring at least one match between them.

Tournament Format

The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four. If India and Pakistan are placed in the same group, it guarantees one group-stage match between the arch-rivals. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 4s, followed by a final between the top two Super 4 teams.
