Empowering armed forces through skill-based training
A 16-week training programme on “Dairy, Poultry and Value-Added Dairy Products” for 28 personnel of the Indian Armed Forces concluded at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSK HPKV), Palampur on Friday. The course, which began on April 7, 2025, included eight participants each from the Indian Army and Navy and 12 from the Indian Air Force.
Dr AK Panda, Dean of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, served as the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony. Col Pardeep Karki, Director, Resettlement (North Zone), also joined the event virtually and lauded the university’s initiative in providing skill-based training to armed forces personnel, equipping them for post-retirement livelihoods.
In a special message, Vice-Chancellor Prof Naveen Kumar congratulated the participants and encouraged them to consider entrepreneurship in the dairy and poultry sectors, noting their potential for sustainable income and self-reliance.
Dr Vinod Sharma, Director of Extension Education, welcomed the guests and trainees. He emphasised the growing scope of dairy entrepreneurship and urged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to launch their own ventures.
Dr Lav Bhushan, Course Incharge, presented an overview of the training programme, which covered both theoretical and hands-on learning. Course Coordinators Dr BG Mane, Dr Krishanender, Dr Dinesh Karofa, Dr Maseem Raza and Dr Nishant Verma were also present at the occasion.
The programme concluded with an interactive session and participant feedback.
