52 girls receive certificates, sewing machines in Phagwara
In a major push toward women empowerment and self-reliance, 52 girls were awarded vocational training certificates and sewing machines by the Sarb Naujawaan Sabha during a ceremony held at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj, Phagwara.
The initiative, supported by SOSVA Punjab, aims to equip young women with practical skills and tools to encourage self-employment and economic independence.
The girls had successfully completed various vocational courses at the Sabha’s training center located at Scheme No. 3 on Hoshiarpur Road, Phagwara. Those who undertook the tailoring course were provided with sewing machines to help them begin their own entrepreneurial journeys.
Presiding over the event, Sukhwinder Singh, President of Sarb Naujawaan Sabha, highlighted the organization’s commitment to uplifting underprivileged youth, especially girls, through skill development initiatives. “This is not just a certificate—it is a step toward a more secure and empowered future,” he said.
Daljit Singh, DSP, Cyber Crime, Kapurthala, attended the event as the chief guest and lauded the efforts of the young women. He urged them to continue striving for excellence and not to fear challenges. “Girls are the backbone of our society and are performing remarkably in all sectors. They must remain fearless and self-reliant,” he said, extending his best wishes for their future endeavors.
Other special guests included Rajvinderjit Kaur, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Phagwara; Tejpal Basra, Senior Deputy Mayor; Santosh Kumar Gogi, District Secretary of Aam Aadmi Party; and Municipal Councillor Pritpal Kaur Tulli.
CDPO Rajvinderjit Kaur praised the Sabha’s initiative and emphasized the importance of vocational education for women. “Skill-based learning is key to financial independence. These girls are now in a position to support themselves and their families,” she said, encouraging more such community-led programs.
The event marked a significant milestone in the Sabha’s ongoing mission to empower young women by bridging the gap between education and livelihood, offering them not just skills but also the resources to put those skills into practice.
