Telangana Shocker: Birthday Party Turns Tragic As Man Stabs Estranged Wife To Death In Hyderabad
Hyderabad (Telangana): A birthday celebration in Hyderabad’s Abdullapurmet turned into a scene of horror on Thursday evening when a 35-year-old woman, S Sammakka, was stabbed to death by her estranged husband, S Srinu, in front of guests, including children.
Details On Horrifying Incident
The incident took place at the residence of Srinu’s niece, Rajeswari, where a birthday party was being held for her 14-year-old daughter. Sammakka, who had recently separated from Srinu due to ongoing marital discord and had moved from Suryapet to Abdullapurmet, was invited to attend the celebration. Around 7:15 pm, just before the cake-cutting ceremony, Srinu arrived uninvited. As Sammakka stood recording the event on her phone, Srinu pulled out a knife and stabbed her three times in the neck.
According to an NDTV report quoting eyewitnesses, Srinu shouted accusations of an illicit relationship while attacking her. Sammakka collapsed and died on the spot, leaving the guests in a state of shock and panic. Many children and relatives who were present witnessed the gruesome incident unfold within seconds.
Accused Doubted On Wife's Character
Police said Rajeswari filed a complaint against her maternal uncle Srinu, following which a case of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered. Investigations suggest that the murder was premeditated, rooted in Srinu’s long-standing suspicions about Sammakka’s character. Sammakka was his second wife and he had children with both her and his first, chronically ill wife. Police believe growing mistrust and frequent disputes led to the fatal act.
After committing the crime, Srinu fled the scene and reportedly threatened anyone who tried to stop him. He was eventually traced and taken into custody in Hayathnagar on Friday evening.
Police have also seized Sammakka’s mobile phone, which is believed to have recorded the entire incident. Her body has been sent to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
