Pargat Singh dares Kangana Ranaut to question PM Modi, Gujarat Govt on drug issue

Congress legislator Pargat Singh on Friday hit out at BJP Lok Sabha MP Kangana Ranaut for linking drug abuse in Himachal Pradesh to trafficking from Punjab and said the remark showed her party’s “deep-rooted prejudice” against the state.

In a statement, while terming the drug abuse a national problem, he dared the actor-turned-politician to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the Gujarat’s BJP government over the issue while claiming that narcotics worth Rs 21,000 crore were seized from the state’s ports.

Does the BJP or Kangana have the courage to question PM Modi or the Gujarat Government?” he said.

The criticism came hours after Kangana, while speaking outside Parliament, alleged that drugs being smuggled from Pakistan were entering Himachal Pradesh through Punjab, impacting the state’s youth and families.

Objecting to the statement, Pargat said, “This is not just ignorance but a deliberate insult. Blaming Punjab for Himachal’s drug crisis is part of the BJP’s old political script, used to deflect attention from its own failures.”

“Kangana’s repeated targeting of Punjab and its people reveals her deep-rooted bias. Making such reckless remarks on such a serious issue only shows her intellectual shallowness,”he added. Pargat said drug trafficking was a national problem but the BJP selectively blamed states ruled by Opposition parties.
