Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 continues to create massive buzz since the release of its highly anticipated trailer. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, the movie promises an ultimate face-off between the two titans of Indian cinema- Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. As expected, the trailer looks promising, offering glimpses of power-pact action sequences and intense drama.
Mounted on a hefty budget of Rs 400 crore, A trade source confirms Bollywood Hungama that War 2 becomes the most expensive and ambitious project in the YRF spy universe. “War 2 is made on a budget of Rs. 400 crores, surpassing the budget of Tiger 3 (Rs. 350 crores), and Pathaan (Rs. 325 crores). This does not include the marketing budget kept aside for print and publicity,” Source reveals.
War 2 marks JR NTR’s much-hyped entry in Bollywood. According to reports, the actor is reportedly been paid Rs 60 crore, surpassing even the salary he drew from RRR, making him the top-paid actor in the film.
Hrithik Roshan, who is reprising his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, has reportedly taken Rs 48 crore, which is more than his previous films with Yash Raj. Whereas, the new mom, Kiara Advani who will seen playing Hrithik Roshan’s love interest in the film, is reportedly being paid Rs 15 core- her biggest paycheck to date. Anil Kapoor, on the other hand, is drawing Rs 10 crore for War 2.
The acting fees has alone costed Rs 150 crore, with director Ayan Mukerji taking home Rs 30 crore. “The remaining Rs. 220 crores have been invested in mounting the film at an unimaginable scale. The visuals of War 2 will take the audience on an unforgettable ride,” the trade source informed Bollywood Hungama.
War 2 is being considered one of the most expensive action films ever produced by Yash Raj Films. The film has been shot across six international locations- Spain, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Russia, Japan and India. Slated to release on August 14, War 2 will be released in five languages- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
