Vande Bharat Sleeper trains: Indian Railways is going to launch a new sleeper train, know what benefits passengers will get

Soon Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be seen running in the country. These trains are being specially designed to make long and medium distance travel more comfortable, fast and modern. Now passengers will not only get great facilities, but the experience of travel will also be completely new and better.

How will Vande Bharat sleeper train be?

Vande Bharat sleeper trains will have many such features which are not yet available in normal trains. These trains will have automatic doors, that is, the doors will open and close automatically when the train stops and starts. The berths i.e. sleeping seats will be very comfortable and there will also be on-board Wi-Fi facility for the passengers. The design of the train will be like an aircraft, which will give the passenger a better experience of peace, safety and convenience during the journey. It will be a semi-high-speed train, that is, the speed in it will also be fast and the feeling of jolts will be less.

The Railway Minister informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday, 25 July 2025 that the first rake of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has been prepared and it will soon start running on the tracks. He informed that the first prototype of this train has been prepared and its field trial has also been successful. Keeping in mind the experiences gained from the trial, now the first rake is being prepared for service.

The Railway Minister also informed that the design of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has now been completely finalized. At present, 10 trains are in the manufacturing process. Apart from this, 50 more trains are being produced at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. At the same time, contracts have been given to different companies for the manufacture of a total of 200 Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains.

Out of these, a company named ‘Kinet Railway Solutions Limited’ has been given the responsibility of making 120 trains with 16 coaches. However, Trinamool MP Saket Gokhale raised the question whether this contract has been changed to 80 trains with 24 coaches. The minister also clarified on this and said that all the changes are being made as per the prescribed rules. In the next few months, Vande Bharat sleeper trains will write a new chapter of rail travel in the country.
