Melania’s first meeting with Donald Trump had an Epstein connection, says biographer

The biographer of the US President Donald Trump has claimed that disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was the crucial link in the  First Lady Melania Trump’s first meeting with her future husband. Michael Wolff, a long-term Trump biographer who penned the bestseller ‘Fire and Fury’ about Trump’s first stint at the White House, claimed Melania was “very involved” in Epstein’s social circle.

Wolff told The Daily Beast podcast that Melania was introduced to Trump by ID Models founder Paolo  Zampolli, who helped Melania emigrate to the United States. They met in September 1998. “She’s  introduced by a model agent, both of whom Trump and Epstein are involved with. She’s introduced to Trump that way. Epstein [knew] her well,” Wolff said. Earlier reports have mentioned Zampolli’s alleged ties to Epstein and his now-incarcerated partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell.

“Where does [Melania] fit into the Epstein story? Where does she fit into this, into this whole culture of models of indeterminate age?” Wolff said. “So this is another complicated dimension in this.”

However, the first lady has refuted the claims that Epstein had a role in their introduction, stating she met Trump at New York’s Kit Kat Klub.

In her latest bestseller, Melania describes meeting Trump at the club for the first time. She was there on the invitation of her friend. She describes how the future President sat by her side and asked about her career and home in Slovenia. Melania describes how she was captivated by his charm and easy going nature, but didn’t much of the meeting as he had a date with him. Trump, by then, was a twice-divorced man.

“It was a refreshing departure from the usual superficial small talk, and I was drawn to his magnetic energy,” she writes in the book ‘Melania’.

Though Trump denies having had a close friendship with him, he and Melania were photographed alongside Epstein and and Ghislaine Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago in 2000.  Epstein also claimed that he introduced Trump to Melania.
