Health Dept empanels 29 ultrasound centres for better maternal healthcare services in dist

The district health department has made significant strides in providing essential healthcare services to pregnant mothers. As part of an initiative to improve maternal healthcare services, 29 ultrasound centres have been empanelled in the district, offering free ultrasound services to expectant mothers, stated Civil Surgeon Dr Kirandeep Kaur.

She said that in the district, a total of 3,812 women have benefited from the scheme, receiving crucial prenatal care without any financial burden. She said that the department has further expanded this facility to include patients visiting Aam Aadmi Clinics, ensuring that a broader segment of the population can access these services. The Civil Surgeon said that it would enhance prenatal care and monitoring, contributing to better health outcomes for both mothers and babies.

However, Dr Kirandeep Kaur has expressed concern over the performance of some empanelled centres. Complaints have been received regarding the quality of service or adherence to guidelines at certain facilities, she said, warning that if these centres do not improve their services, departmental action will be taken against them. Dr Kaur has appealed to the general public, particularly pregnant mothers, to take advantage of the free ultrasound services by these empanelled centres.
