Shubman Gill's Century Breaks Multiple Records, Shatters 148-Year-Old Barrier
Indian captain Shubman Gill has etched his name in cricketing history by smashing a brilliant century in the fourth Test against England.
This knock not only helped India steady their innings but also propelled Gill to several record-breaking feats. The young skipper scored 103 runs off 238 balls in the second innings, including 12 elegant boundaries.
With this, Gill now has four centuries in the ongoing series and an astonishing tally of 722 runs — with one match still to go.
This tally makes him the second-highest run-scorer in a debut Test series as captain, surpassing greats like Clive Lloyd (636 runs) and Greg Chappell (702). Only Sir Don Bradman (810 runs) stands ahead of him in this elite list.
Rare Asian Milestone in England
Shubman Gill’s feat is even more historic considering the venue. He has become the first Asian batsman in 93 years to score over 700 runs in a Test series in England. Since Asian teams began touring England in 1932, no batsman from the continent had achieved this landmark until now.
