Odisha: Former Principal of Govt. ITI Phulbani Convicted in DA Case

Phulbani: Saroj Kanta Ray, former Principal of Govt. ITI, Phulbani, District Kandhamal, and currently a Lecturer in Electronics at Govt. Polytechnic, Dhenkanal, was convicted today by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Ray was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 109 of the IPC for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The court sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance announced its intent to approach the competent authority to seek Ray’s dismissal from service.
