DRDO 500 kg pre-fragmented bomb: In a significant development for the Indian Air Force and a matter of bad news for Pakistan, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India has added a powerful indigenous weapon to its defence arsena with the development of a 500 kg pre-fragmented bomb. The newly developed DRDO bomb is expected to play a massive role for the Air Force as it can be used during strikes on Pakistan. Here are all the details you need to know about the DRDO 500 kg pre-fragmented bomb and why it’s a bad news for Pakistan.
About 500 kg pre-fragmented bomb
Falling under the high-explosive general-purpose category, the 500 kg pre-fragmented super bomb is designed to cause maximum destruction within a limited area. Moreover, due to the smart design of the bomb, effective penetration and heavy impact is seen in the area where it is used, causing a 360 degrees impact, destroying launchpads, radars and runways.
Why 500 kg pre-fragmented bomb is a game-changer?
The DRDO 500 kg pre-fragmented bomb has been made indigenously and therefore, it is very cost-effective, It is also tailored for seamless integration with Indian fighter jets like Sukhoi-30 MKI, Mirage-2000, and Tejas.
DRDO conducts successful flight trials of unmanned aerial vehicle
In another major boost to India’s defence capabilities, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully carried out flight-trials of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3 at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) test range in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The missile is an enhanced version of the ULPGM-V2 missile developed and delivered by DRDO earlier.
As per the official release, the ULPGM-V3 is equipped with a high-definition, dual-channel seeker that can engage a wide variety of targets. It can be fired in plain and high-altitude areas. It has day-and-night capability and a two-way data link to support post-launch target/aim-point update.
