To boost ‘Beti Bachao’ drive, CM Saini launches Lado Sakhi Yojana
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today launched the Lado Sakhi Yojana, and digital e-learning eco system, on the occasion of state-level Hariyali Teej festival celebrations in Ambala City.
The “Lado Sakhi Yojana” aims to further strengthen the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” campaign. Under this initiative, a “Lado Sakhi” (Anganwadi worker, ASHA worker or an ANM) would take care of pregnant women during childbirth. For every girl child born, the designated “Lado Sakhi” would receive an incentive of Rs 1,000. The scheme aims to improve the sex ratio in Haryana.
The Chief Minister also launched the “Badhte Kadam: Digital Bal Programme” in Anganwadis, which would help its workers provide better care and early education to young children.
While addressing a gathering, the CM said, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In 2014, the sex ratio in Haryana was 871, and in 2025 it increased to 906. The scheme has yielded positive results. To give a boost to the scheme, Lado Sakhi Yojana has been launched. Anganwadi centres will be equipped with latest technology in which Badhte Kadam Digital Bal Programme will be launched.”
While extending greeting on the occasion of Teej festival, Saini said, “Such events give us an opportunity to understand each other better. The state government has been strengthening women through self-help groups.”
Highlighting various initiatives and policies introduced by the government, the CM said, “New initiatives have successfully helped women-led start-ups in Haryana. Under the state start-up policy, half of beneficiaries will be women-led ventures. To encourage entrepreneurial skills from a young age, 10,000 — Do-It-Yourself — kits will be distributed among girl students. Additionally, one ration depot in every development block will be allotted to women from self-help groups (SHGs), providing them livelihood opportunities.”
During the event, Saini virtually inaugurated 131 Mahila Sanskriti Kendras across Haryana. He handed over cheques worth Rs 14.26 crore to SHGs as part of revolving and community investment funds. He also gave keys of newly established — Rural Harts — in six districts to SHGs.
Women artisans excelling in handicrafts were awarded Rs 3 lakh each for the State Handicraft Award and the Outstanding Woman Artisan Award, along with 12 consolation prizes of Rs 51,000 each. Awards were also presented to high-performing SHGs at the district level.
Besides, the CM inaugurated projects worth around Rs 46.34 crore. He laid foundation stones of over Rs 26-crore projects of the Power Department in Ambala City constituency.
Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij, Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry, Minister of State Rajesh Nagar, BJP state president Mohan Lal Kaushik, former minister of state Aseem Goel and several other party leaders were present on the occasion.
Later in the evening, Saini honoured meritorious students with Utkrisht Shiksha Puraskar. He called upon students to stay away from drugs and contribute in development of the nation.
Attends Van Mahotsav in Yamunanagar
Chief Minister Nayab Sing Saini attended the state-level Van Mahotsav at Kalesar in Yamunanagar. The CM said, “Nature is the basis of life. Conservation of nature should be our top priority. In today’s fast-paced race for modern development, Van Mahotsav reminds us that true progress lies in living in harmony with nature rather than exploiting it. Every tree we plant is a new source of life and a symbol of hope.”
Referring to Kalesar, he said the region holds immense ecological importance. He said, “Kalesar is also an attractive destination for tourists, nature lovers and trekkers. The government is working to develop the entire stretch from Kalka to Kalesar into a major tourism hub.”
The CM planted saplings in Van Mahotsav, as well as inaugurated the newly constructed rest house of the Forest Department. Besides, the CM announced that 2.10 crore saplings would be planted in the state this year, to increase the forest cover.
He also released Haryana Forest News and Pran Vayu Devta booklets on the occasion. Environment and Forest Minister Rao Narbir Singh, MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and several party leaders were present on this occasion.
