I-T Joint Commissioner honoured with certificate of excellence by Nirmala
Harshit Bansal, a 2015 batch IRS Officer, who is at present posted as Joint Commissioner, Karnal Range, Income Tax Office, received certificate of excellence from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for excellent work of promoting voluntary compliance by taxpayers on declaration of foreign income and assets through non-intrusive usage of data to guide and enable (NUDGE). He received the certificate during 166th Income Tax Day programme organised at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.
Harshit Bansal hails from Panipat and is entrusted with the responsibility of supervision of tax administration and taxpayer services in the Karnal Range, covering five districts of Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Kaithal. Apart from the NUDGE campaign, he has also represented India in multilateral international forums, such as OECD: Task Force on Tax and Other Financial Crimes, G-20 Anti-Corruption Working Group and BRICS.
NUDGE was a first of its kind initiative of the Income Tax Department, taken up by the team steered by Bansal. Selected taxpayers were sent SMS and emails to revise their returns for 2024-25, on the basis of data received under the automatic exchange of information from 100 countries. Under the campaign, more than 30,000 taxpayers revised their income tax returns to declare foreign assets of more than 29,000 crores.
In Karnal, Aman Bisla, Deputy Commissioner, Circle Karnal, presided over various events conducted as part of celebrations of 166th Income Tax Day at Aaykar Bhawan, Sector 12, Karnal, in which officers/officials were administered pledge, quiz competition.
