ED Conducts Searches At Premises Linked To Ex-Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) Commissioner Anil Pawar In Money Laundering Probe

Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday is conducting searches at the residence and official premises of former Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) Commissioner Anil Pawar in connection with a money laundering probe into the unauthorised construction of 41 buildings on 60 acres of civic land reserved for sewage treatment and dumping grounds.

Searches are being conducted at the residential and official premises of former VVMC Commissioner Anil Pawar, as well as at 12 locations in Mumbai, Pune and Nashik linked to Anil Pawar. However, according to sources, he relieved the VVMC Commissioner's post a day ago and was transferred to Thane SRA department.

Anilkumar Khanderao Pawar, a 2014-batch IAS officer, has been transferred from the post of Commissioner of Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC). He vacated the office on Monday following state orders. The Maharashtra government has appointed M.M. Suryawanshi, IAS, as the new VVMC Commissioner, replacing Pawar amid an ongoing bureaucratic reshuffle across key municipal bodies.
