Hospital Inundated In Bihar’s Nalanda; Patients Wade Through Flooded Campus For Treatment
Amid ongoing monsoon chaos in Bihar, disturbing visuals have emerged from Nalanda, where heavy rains have completely flooded the premises of a district hospital. What’s meant to be a place of healing has turned into a waterlogged hazard, with patients and their attendants forced to wade through ankle to knee-deep water just to enter or exit the hospital. This alarming situation reflects the wider flood crisis unfolding across Bihar. After Patna and Nawada, now Nalanda's healthcare infrastructure is reeling under water. Locals describe the scene as a "जल अटैक" (water assault) — with the hospital submerged, and no proper drainage in place, rainwater remains stagnant, turning into a breeding ground for infections.Already suffering from illnesses, patients are now vulnerable to waterborne diseases and injuries from navigating submerged pathways. “Yahan to aspatal ke andar bhi paani aa gaya hai,” said one frustrated visitor.Hospitals should be the last place hit by floodwater — but these visuals tell a story of government apathy and collapsing civic systems. Monsoon is far from over, and if emergency drainage measures aren’t taken soon, public health could face an even deeper crisis.
