Patna Submerged After Heavy Rainfall, Kankarbagh Waterlogged; Civic Claims Fall Flat Again

Heavy rainfall has once again exposed the poor drainage infrastructure in Patna, as large parts of the city — including the Kankarbagh area — remain waterlogged. Residents are struggling to leave their homes, attend offices, or reach schools and coaching centers. Even elevated localities, which usually escape such flooding, are now underwater.ABP News correspondent Shashank Kumar, reporting from ground zero in Kankarbagh, highlighted knee-deep water on roads, submerged streets, and helpless commuters wading through flooded lanes. Citizens voiced their frustration, saying this situation repeats every year, yet the Municipal Corporation’s promises remain empty.“Subah se baarish ho rahi thi, abhi ruki hai lekin paani kahin gaya hi nahi,” a local resident said. Another added, “Nagar Nigam ke daave sirf kagaz par hain. Har saal ye hota hai.” Office-goers and students are forced to brave the flood-like conditions in formal wear, struggling to reach their destinations.Areas like Gandhi Maidan, Station Road, Chitkohra, Postal Park, and Gai Ghat are all facing severe waterlogging. A rain alert has also been issued in Nalanda and Munger districts, with warnings that the situation may worsen if rain continues.
