CM mourns deaths in Mandi cloudburst, promises rehab
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of three lives in a cloudburst in Mandi town in the wee hours of today. The incident, which caused flashfloods and torrents of debris flowing into the Jail Road area, also left one person critically injured and damaged several houses.
Sukhu said that district officials immediately reached the cloudburst site to oversee rescue and relief operations. He added the district administration had been instructed to provide all possible assistance to the affected families and ensure that the injured persons receive proper medical care.
The Chief Minister said that the incident was “heart-wrenching and painful” and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
He said that the state government was standing firmly with them in this hour of grief. “We are committed to ensuring timely relief and rehabilitation to all those impacted by the calamity,” he added.
Sukhu prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss. Former minister and senior Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur also visited the grieving family. They also expressed condolences and sought immediate and adequate relief for the victims.
