Mumbai Local Train Update: Central Line Services Disrupted After Crack Found On Track Between Badlapur & Vangani
Mumbai: Mumbai’s Central Railway suburban services were severely affected on Wednesday morning after a crack was detected on the track between Badlapur and Vangani stations. The issue brought local train services to a temporary halt, resulting in massive delays for thousands of daily commuters during peak hours.
The disruption began early in the morning when railway staff identified a crack on the rail line. Visuals of the cracked track quickly circulated on social media platforms, sparking concern among regular train users. A video shared by News Tech Marathi showed Central Railway workers carrying out emergency repairs to restore services in the affected section.
Due to the damage, several local trains headed towards Karjat were reportedly short-terminated at Badlapur and sent back towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), causing further crowding and delays on the already burdened suburban network. Long-distance services weren’t spared either.
Commuters Share Frustration On Social Media
An X (formerly Twitter) user, Prasad Sawant, reported that the Mumbai-Pune Intercity Express was stranded near Kalyan for over 30 minutes. In follow-up posts, he clarified that the delay was linked to the track issue in the Badlapur–Vangani section.
The disruption led to a wave of complaints on social media, especially on X and the popular commuter app, m-Indicator. Its chat section saw a flood of frustrated messages from stranded passengers who were late for work, with many expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of timely communication from the authorities.
Central Railway Issues Update On Issue
Central Railway officials responded swiftly, confirming the issue and assuring commuters of immediate repair work. In an official statement posted online, the Senior Divisional Operation Manager (Coaching), Mumbai Division, said, “Train experienced a delay in the Badlapur–Vangani section due to a track-related issue that required urgent attention. The issue has been resolved, the track is now safe, and train movement has resumed. Every effort is being made to minimise further delay. We regret the inconvenience caused.”
