This 54-year-old US Senator is all in support of Sydney Sweeney’s ‘Nazi Fascist’ American Eagle ad campaign

As the denim brand American Eagle faces backlash for its “tone-deaf and Nazi Fascist” ad campaign featuring US actor Sydney Sweeney, a 54-year-old US Senator has come out supporting the advertisement and addressing Sweeney as “a beautiful woman”.
This comes as the advertisement’s punny use of the phrase “great jeans” (play on words for Sweeney’s “great genes) aced criticism from several quarters, with many stating the brand was promoting “eugenics”, “white supremacy,” and “Nazi propaganda”.
Ted Cruz, an American Republican politician who was elected to the US Senate in 2012 from Texas, expressed his admiration for the campaign on X. Reposting a news article that attacked the “crazed woke mob tribe”, Cruz said: “Wow. Now the crazy Left has come out against beautiful women‚” he posted on X. “I’m sure that will poll well...”
One video of the campaign shared by American Eagle on Instagram has blond, blue-eyed Sweeney standing in front of a poster of herself with text that reads “Sydney Sweeney has great genes”. The word “genes” is crossed out and is replaced with the word “jeans”.
Another video has Sweeney saying: “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”
Critics said the words used in the campaign were “a dog whistle to the rise of conservatism” and that a “fair-skinned white woman musing about passing down her traits” was unfunny, especially in the current political climate.
As for the right-wing, many hailed the advertisement, calling it a nail in the coffin for woke advertising.
Cruz, who rose to fame as a right-wing fighter, has now added fuel to the fire with his statement against the “crazy left”. The senator’s open support has invited the wrath of X users, who mocked “Thirsty Ted” for fawning over the actress.
“Thirsty Ted will defend Sydney Sweeney but won’t defend his own wife against Trump’s smears,” posted Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, referring to Trump’s rude comments about Cruz’s wife Heidi during the 2016 election. “I’m sure that will poll well at home!”
Another wrote: “According to Trump, your wife isn’t one of those beautiful women.”
American Eagle of Sydney Sweeney are yet to react to the criticisms.
