MSSA Football: Aarav, Ayaan and Rishan hat-tricks light up school tournament
Aarav Kataria netted a hat-trick as Don Bosco Borivali thrashed St. Paul Dadar 6-0 in the Boys Under-16 Division I Group D match of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) football tournament at Wings Sports Centre, Bandra on Wednesday. Elijch Fernandes opened the floodgates with a goal in the 15th minute. Kataria took over with three consecutive strikes. Cristiano Lewis scored the fifth goal, and Sanil Wadgaonkar completed half a dozen goals for the Borivali school.
Ayaan Maniar scored a second hat-trick of the day to star in St. Joseph Secondary School, Malad's 4-2 win over Utpal Sanghvi Juhu in the Group C match. Reuven Pillai scored the fourth goal to increase Utpal Sanghvi's defense woes. Earlier, Ayaan had exploited the lapses to breach the defense repeatedly and score at his will.
Ayaan Maniar scored a hat-trick to star in St. Joseph Secondary School, Malad's 4-2 win. Arnav Sharma had nullified Maniar's early strike and then scored his second goal to give Utpal Sanghvi a 2-1 lead. But twin strikes from Maniar inside two minutes put St. Joseph's ahead again, and Pillai sealed the game.
In the Group B match, Smt. AVM Juhu overwhelmed Cambridge Kandivali 4-0. Rishan Arora scored the third hat-trick of the day. He scored the first two goals to put AVM in cruise control. Jeh Budhwani made it 3-0 before Arora scored the fourth goal.
Naveen Ganeshan scored a brace as Don Bosco Matunga defeated Christ Church Byculla 4-0 in a Group B match. Naveen opened the scoring in the 16th minute, and M D'souza doubled the lead five minutes later. Naveen made it 3-0 with his second goal. Bhavya Sandesh inflicted more misery on the Christ Church defense with a fourth goal.
