Youth dies as power corporation engineer opens fire over car parking dispute in Amritsar
A youth was killed and two others injured after a junior engineer with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) allegedly opened fire at several persons in Ganda Singh Wala area on Majitha road here following a minor altercation over a car parking issue late Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Vicky, a resident of Ganda Singh Wala. He reportedly suffered a bullet injury in the chest and died on the spot.
The injured were rushed to a hospital and further investigations are in progress.
The accused along with his family members fled the scene. The raids were continued to nab him.
According to information, the incident began when a vegetable vendor knocked at the door of the accused, Vikram alias Vicky, requesting him to move his car, which was parked in an abrupt manner. Vikram reportedly came out on the balcony and entered in a verbal spat with the vendor. He later came down with his licensed pistol and opened fire indiscriminately.
The victim was riding pillion on a bike. A bullet pierced his head leading to his death on the spot. The vegetable vendor also sustained bullet injury on the leg. The incident led to a protest as the residents demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
Police teams, led by Rishabh Bhola, Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) and Harsandeep Singh, SHO Sadar police station, reached the spot and assured the crowd of swift action.
ACP Bhola said a case has been registered and raids were on to nab the accused.
