Good news for Indian tourists planning to travel to Nepal, now they can carry Rs 4.25 lakh in cash

The Nepal government has increased the cash limit for Indian tourists from Rs 25,000 to Rs 4.25 lakh. This decision has been taken to promote the tourism industry and business. Earlier, Nepal Police used to confiscate cash of more than Rs 25,000.

New Delhi. People going to Nepal for tourism, treatment and business will now be able to carry more cash. The Nepal government has increased the cash limit for Indians from 25 thousand to 4.25 lakh rupees.

Other foreign travelers will be able to carry five thousand US dollars (4,34,048 rupees) and traveler’s cheques. Other foreign nationals carrying an amount of up to six lakhs will have to give written information to the customs office.

Nepal took steps to promote the tourism industry

Till now, if Indians were found carrying more than 25 thousand rupees, the customs or Nepal police used to confiscate it. The Nepal government has taken this decision to promote the tourism industry and business.

There is no need for a passport or visa to travel between India and Nepal. Due to this, a large number of Indian tourists have been visiting Kathmandu, Pokhara, Pashupatinath and other tourist places.

People from border areas also go to Nepal for dental and eye treatment. Treatment there is cheaper than in India. Traders associated with the business of spices, dry fruits and cosmetic products also keep coming and going.

Decrease in number of tourists is being observed

In the last few years, a continuous decrease in the number of Indian tourists was being observed. The cash system of Rs 25,000 was considered to be the main reason for this. In the meeting of the Union Cabinet of Nepal, Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Finance Minister Vishnu Prasad Paudel announced to increase the cash limit for Indian tourists, which has become effective.

Although the limit of carrying cash has been increased, the ban on circulation of Indian currency notes of value more than Rs 100 in Nepal remains in place. Indians living in border areas are happy with this decision of the Nepal government.
