Two held in Rs 90K liquor vend loot case in Yamunanagar

A team of CIA-I has arrested two miscreants involved in the firing and looting of Rs 90,000 from a liquor vend located in Tejli village of Yamunanagar district.

At a press conference, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamaldeep Goyal said the incident took place around 10.30 pm on Tuesday, when three motorcycle-borne assailants arrived at the liquor vend. “One of the miscreants opened fire at the liquor vend and the trio fled after looting Rs 90,000,” he stated.

He added that upon receiving the information, all SHOs, police post in-charges and officers across the district were alerted through WhatsApp groups. “All check-post in-charges were immediately informed and instructed to remain vigilant,” said the SP.

According to Goyal, the miscreants were intercepted by police at a check-post near Kait Mandi village. “When stopped, they began to scuffle with the policemen. They managed to flee from near the check-post, but teams from CIA-I and local police stations reached the spot and initiated a search operation. Two of the miscreants were apprehended,” he said.

The arrested individuals were identified as Gaurav, a resident of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, and Pankaj, a resident of Jagadhri. One of the accused is still at large and efforts are underway to arrest him.

The SP further informed that during the scuffle, one of the accused bit a policeman’s finger and injured him.

“As many as 13 criminal cases of theft, snatching and dacoity are registered against Pankaj. Gaurav also has five cases registered under dacoity, theft, snatching and the Arms Act,” Goyal said.
