FIR ordered against cop for assaulting public servant
A local court has ordered the registration of an FIR against Inspector Jashanpreet Singh for voluntarily causing hurt and use of force against public servant in the attack on chowkidar Baljeet Singh at the District Court Complex in Sector 76 here on July 6 when hearing on the bail plea of SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia took place.
Complainant Pawan Kumar, reader to the court of Lead Civil Judge, Senior Division-cum-Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mohali, stated that at 11.30 am, victim
Baljeet Singh, who was posted as chowkidar, informed him over the phone that he was on duty when Majithia was to be produced in the court. Inspector Jashanpreet Singh came to him and asked him to open the gate of the court towards Radha Soami Satsang Ghar. When the victim requested him that he must seek permission of judicial officers regarding the opening of the gate, the Inspector snatched the
keys of the gate from him and pushed him.
Baljeet Singh appeared before the Civil Judge Senior Division the next day and stated that the cop gave him two-three fist blows. The victim’s medico-legal examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital.
Disposing of an application under Section 175(3) and 175(4) of the Bharatiya Nagrika Suraksha Sanhita, the court directed the Mohali SSP and the Sohana SHO to register an FIR under Sections 115(2), 132, 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita or under any other provision for the offence.
