Northern Command chief hails troops for Op Mahadev success

Following the success of ‘Operation Mahadev’ on the Srinagar outskirts, in which three ultras responsible for the Pahalgam attack were killed, Army’s Northern Command General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma visited the general area of Dachigam in Srinagar to felicitate troops for their resilient action.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that three terrorists involved in the recent Pahalgam attack were neutralised on Monday under ‘Operation Mahadev’.

The slain militants were identified as Sulaiman Shah (alias Faizal Jatt), Hamza Afghani and Jibran.

Lt Gen Sharma visited Kashmir to compliment and felicitate troops for their resilient action and swift execution of the operation on July 28, where three hard-core terrorists were neutralised, the Northern Command wrote on its X account, adding that the unit stands by its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free.

On Tuesday, a day after Operation Mahadev, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma had called on J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and briefed him. He informed Sinha that search operations had been ongoing from South Kashmir to Dachigam forest areas for the past few months. “There were persistent reports about terrorists hiding in this area. Recently, based on specific intelligence inputs, special teams were activated,” he added.
