Metro areas to get new power connections within three days

Getting a new or temporary electricity connection — or extending an existing load — has become faster in Haryana’s metropolitan areas. According to a notification issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, the service will now be provided within three days of submitting a complete application, along with the necessary documents and charges.

This facility has been brought under the ambit of the Haryana Right to Service Act, 2014, ensuring time-bound delivery and accountability.

The timeline for providing the same service in municipal areas has been fixed at seven days, while in rural areas it will be 15 days. In cases that require system expansion or upgrade, the time limit has been set at 34 days.

To streamline redressal, the notification also designates the Sub-Divisional Officer (Operations) as the officer responsible for delivering the service. The Executive Engineer (Operations) will serve as the First Grievance Redressal Authority, while the Superintending Engineer (Operations) will be the Second Grievance Redressal Authority.

The move aims to simplify the power connection process and ensure prompt service delivery across Haryana.
