Raincoats distributed to 100 sanitation workers in Yamunanagar
Raincoats were distributed to sanitation workers to ensure that rainfall does not hinder the cleaning efforts in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
A total of 100 sanitation workers received raincoats from Mayor Suman Bahamani during a programme jointly organised by the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation (YJMC) and Rotary Club at Mayor House in Model Town, Yamunanagar.
Among those present at the event were Rotary Yamunanagar president Ish Anand, Municipal Councillor Vibhor Pahuja, principal of DAV Dental College Dr I K Pandit, Chief Sanitary Inspector of YJMC Vinod Beniwal, Rotary treasurer Ashish Luthra and joint secretary Vikram Bali.
The Mayor expressed gratitude to Rotary Yamunanagar for their contribution. “Every sanitation worker will now be able to reach their duty on time and perform their responsibilities by wearing a raincoat on rainy days,” said Mayor Suman Bahamani.
“Sanitation workers face great difficulty during rainfall. They often have to work while getting drenched. With these raincoats, they can carry on their duties more comfortably,” she added.
She further stated that the MC was committed to providing all necessary facilities to sanitation workers. Appealing to the residents of both cities, the Mayor urged them to cooperate with Municipal Corporation employees to maintain cleanliness.
“The YJMC is working seriously to develop the twin cities and improve the sanitation system,” she said. She noted that corporation staff were actively addressing waterlogging issues.
“Some residents throw garbage into drains and sewers, which causes blockages and hampers the drainage system, leading to waterlogging during rains,” she said. She appealed to residents to refrain from such practices and work with the MC to make the cities cleaner and more beautiful.
