Good news for Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani as Anant Ambani gets approval from Reliance shareholders over his appointment as RIL executive director, his salary will be…, allowances and other…

In August 2023, Mukesh Ambani had shared that his three children: Akash, Isha, and Anant would be joining the board of Reliance Industries as non-executive directors. This was part of his plan to gradually hand over leadership to the next generation. Now, Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, has been officially appointed as a whole-time director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). He will also hold the title of Executive Director.

The company’s board had made this decision in April 2025, and his appointment began on May 1, 2025. He will serve in this role for five years.

The decision was based on the recommendation of the company’s Human Resources, Nomination, and Remuneration Committee. However, it still needed the approval of the company’s shareholders, which has now been granted.

“The Company had sought approval of the members of the Company for: Appointment of Shri Anant M. Ambani (DIN: 07945702) as a Whole-time Director, designated as an Executive Director, for a period of 5 (five) years with effect from May 1, 2025,” Reliance Industries said in a filing today.

The company, in the exchange filing, informed that the resolution has been passed with more than requisite majority on July 29, 2025 (the last date of e-voting).

“The voting results in the format prescribed under Regulation 44(3) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, along with the Scrutiniser’s Report on remote e-voting, in respect of above resolutions are attached. The voting results are also available on the website of the Company and KFin Technologies Limited, authorised agency which provided e-voting facility,” RIL added in the filing.

Anant Ambani, who graduated from Brown University, was already serving as a non-executive director at Reliance Industries. Now, he has been appointed as a whole-time executive director for a term of five years, starting from May 1.

Anant Ambani salary and benefits as RIL director

As per details shared by the company in June through a postal ballot, Anant’s yearly salary will be between Rs. 10 crore and Rs. 20 crore. The final amount and yearly increase will be decided by the company’s Human Resources, Nomination and Remuneration (HRNR) Committee.

Along with his salary, he will also receive various benefits, which include:

  • A house (furnished or not) or house rent allowance
  • House maintenance allowance
  • Reimbursement of expenses for gas, electricity, water, furniture, and repairs
  • Leave travel allowance for himself and his family (including dependents)

He will also be reimbursed for travel, stay, and other expenses during business trips, including costs for his spouse and any attendants. In addition, he will be provided with company vehicles for official use and paid for communication services at home.

Apart from salary and benefits, he will also earn extra pay based on the company’s net profits.

Earlier, as non-executive directors of Reliance Industries, Akash, Isha, and Anant Ambani did not receive any salary. Instead, during the 2023–24 financial year, each of them was paid a sitting fee of Rs. 4 lakh for attending board meetings, along with a commission of Rs. 97 lakh each based on the company’s profits.
