IMD Rainfall Alert: The rain continues in many parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert on Thursday (July 31, 2025) for many districts from the capital Delhi to UP-Bihar. At the same time, it is raining heavily in the mountains these days. Kedarnath Yatra has been banned for 2 days due to road damage.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in most parts of UP, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir from August 1 to August 5. Moderate to heavy rains are expected in Bareilly, Banda, Aligarh, Hardoi, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Unnao, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Fatehpur and Bijnor in UP on Thursday. There is also an alert of lightning in some areas.

Heavy rain continues in Rajasthan

Heavy rains are continuously occurring in many districts of Rajasthan, due to which low-lying areas are flooded and flood-like conditions have arisen. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy and very heavy rains at some places in Bharatpur, Jaipur and Ajmer divisions on Thursday. Heavy rain activities in the state are expected to decrease from August 2.

Talking about Bihar, there is a possibility of very heavy rain in Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Arwal on Thursday, while heavy rains are expected in many places of 13 districts of south central and north-west parts including Patna, Gaya, West Champaran, Saran.

Heavy rain in Himachal and Uttarakhand

The weather department has predicted heavy rain in Himachal and Uttarakhand. Along with this, a warning has also been issued regarding cloudburst. There is a heavy rain alert in many districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Manali, Sirmaur, Shimla and Una. The IMD has issued a warning of torrential rain in many districts of Uttarakhand including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Nainital and Bageshwar.

Amarnath Yatra postponed

Due to heavy rains in Kashmir, the Amarnath Yatra was postponed on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes on Wednesday. At the same time, the Yatra will remain suspended in Jammu on Thursday due to bad weather.

Kedarnath Yatra banned

The Kedarnath highway was disrupted on Wednesday due to road damage in Munkatiya between Sonprayag and Gaurikund. The district administration has banned the Kedarnath Yatra for two days from the security point of view. Police, SDRF and NDRF teams are busy in safely transporting 2500 passengers stranded in Kedarnath to Sonprayag.
