IND vs ENG 5th Test: Karun Nair IN, Shardul Thakur OUT; India's Probable India's Playing XI For Oval Match
The big day has finally arrived when India and England face off in the fifth and final Test of the series at the Oval on Thursday, July 31. With India trailing the series 1-2, Gautam Gambhir's boys will be under pressure to level the series.
Team India have punched well above their weight, but have been failing to grab key moments. The tourists kept England at bay for 143 overs to secure a draw in the previous Test in Manchester. Snatching draw from what looked like a defeat will serve as a massive confidence-booster ahead of the Oval fixture. The final match of the series will also see India making a host of changes.
Team India's playing XI against England
According to a report by The Indian Express, Karun Nair is likely to come in place of all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who played the fourth Test. With Bumrah sitting out for the final Test, the pace department is also likely to witness changes with Akash Deep coming back for Bumrah, while Anshul Kamboj could make way for Prasidh Krishna.
Mohammed Siraj will spearhead the attack in Bumrah's absence. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel will replace the injured wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, who was ruled out of the series because of a fractured foot. With the pitch having a layer of grass, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will once again warm the bench.
England without Stokes and Archer
Meanwhile, England have four changes to their eleven, with Ben Stokes notably set to miss the series climax due to his right shoulder injury. The hosts have also gone for an all-out pace attack in Chris Woakes, Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue. Jacob Bethell, who is likely to bat at number six, may be called upon if required to bowl spin. Archer and Carse have been rested for the final Test.
