Meet Arnabi Mitra, girl recruited by Amazon as…; not from IIT, IIM, BIT, VIT, NIT, IIIT; she hails from…
After completing class 12, most students try to crack competitive exams like IIT-JEE, CAT, etc, to secure a seat in the prestigious colleges and universities, like IITs and IIMs. It is commonly believed that graduating from a prestigious college guarantees a job in the top companies across the globe, like Google, Microsoft, or Amazon. But does not having a degree from such colleges mean you can’t work in top multinational companies? Certainly No.
With hard work, commitment, and the right mindset, success can be achieved – regardless of your background. And the inspiring journey of Arnabi Mitra is proof. She did not come from an expensive school or a prestigious institute like IIT. Yet through sheer determination, she has successfully achieved a career milestone that many aspire to.
Hailing from West Bengal, Arnabi Mitra finished her early education at local schools in the state. As per her LinkedIn profile, Arnabi studied up to Class 10 at St. Margaret’s School and completed her Class 11 and 12 at Bethune School. Instead of opting for an IIT or NIT after Class 12, she chose to pursue her B.Tech from the Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology (GCELT) in West Bengal.
As per LinkedIn profile, Arnabi worked at Infosys for nearly two years, serving as a System Engineer Specialist, Digital Specialist Engineer in Bhubaneswar, and later as a Power Programmer. Arnabi didn’t stop at her job in Infosys–she wanted something bigger. She developed her skillset and continued to upgrade. The next target was Amazon, for which she studied for 5-6 months. The last 2 months, she put in tremendous effort. The hard work paid-off, because she cracked the interview at Amazon. Arnabi has now been working at Amazon for nearly three years as a Software Development Engineer (SDE). Depending on experience and role, SDE Salaries at Major companies like Amazon usually range between ₹15.6 lakh to ₹31.1 lakh per annum.
“I am a SDE at Amazon . To brief me, I must say I have a good hold on data structure and Algorithm, I love coding and have an interest in theoretical computer science. I have a youtube channel where I teach and guide people to prepare for coding exams and interviews,” reads her LinkedIn bio.
