EPF withdrawal rules changed: If you are planning to withdraw money from the Provident Fund (EPF) account, then there is a relief news for you. Now no document will be required to withdraw money from EPFO. The central government has given clear information about this in the Parliament and this rule is already applicable.
Now only self-declaration is enough
In response to a question asked in Parliament, the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that if EPFO members want to withdraw money for needs like education, marriage, buying a house, illness or emergency, then they will not have to submit any document now. Money can be withdrawn only on the basis of self-declaration.
MPs raised questions
Lok Sabha MPs Vijaykumar Vijay Vasanth, Manickam Tagore B and Suresh Kumar Shetkar had raised the question that why has EPFO started relying only on self-declaration for partial withdrawal of employees? To this, the government replied that this step has been taken to make the process easy, transparent and reliable.
The process was started in 2017
The government said that this change was implemented through the composite claim form introduced in 2017. Under this, EPFO simplified the process of partial and final withdrawal and relied on the self-declaration of the members by eliminating the need for documents.
Problems related to banks will also be solved
Many times the claims of the members were rejected because they uploaded poor quality photos of bank passbook or check. Now this problem has also been resolved. The need to upload the image of the check or passbook has been removed from April 3, 2025. This has reduced the problems in KYC or bank account verification to a great extent.
More than 1.9 crore people benefited
The government said that from July 22, 2025 till now, more than 1.9 crore EPF members have benefited from this new process. This change is an important step towards making EPFO claims simple and reliable.
