Advik bags gold at swimming tourney
Advik Bansal clocked 3 minutes and 18:04 seconds (3:18.04s) to touch the finishing block and winning the gold medal in the 200m freestyle event of the boys’ U-14 category during the Chandigarh Swimming Tournament, organised by the UT Sports Department at the Sector 23 all-weather swimming pool. Daksh Metha (3:38:07s) and Udaybir Singh (3:57:29s) claimed the second and third positions, respectively.
In the 50m backstroke event, Yajat Tiwari (42.05s), Ekvir Singh (42.75s) and Angadjot Singh (43.81) won medals, while in the girls’ 50m backstroke event of the same age group, Virsa Kaur (47.22s), Gulnaaz Grwewal (51.14s) and Kamya Dhiman (51.32s) excelled. Annop (4:00.44s) won the girls’ 200m freestyle event, followed by Abhisri Rawat (4:34.90s) and Kathleen Kaur (4:37.38s).
In the girls’ U-17 age group, Enya Garg (44.27s) won the top honour in the 50m backstroke event, followed by Aarna Goyal (58.00s) at teh second position and Adah Kapoor (59.26s) at the third. In the boys’ 50m backstroke event, Kavin Sharma (30.35s), Nishant Bhardwaj (42.14s) and Aashman Sood (46.89s) claimed medals. Aveer Gobind Singh (57.38s), Anirudh Gautam (58.89s) and Kabir Ravish (1:02:39s) won medals in the 50m breaststroke U-11 boys event, while in the girls’ 50m backstroke event, Nitya Aggarwal (57.51s), Aerisha Sanger (57.60s) and Vaibhavi Sharma (1:04:37s) excelled.
In the boys’ U-14 category, Arav Malik (41.49s), Vitharya (43.10s) and Utkarsh Kaushik (46.31s) won the 50m breaststroke event, and in the girls’ U-14 event, Vaidehi Sharma (47.54s), Jiaah Vij (53.75s) and Aav Sidhu (54.14s) won medals. In the boys’ U-17 category, Gaurav (38.17s), Aniket Thakur (40.90s) and Soham (43.48s) bagged medals, and in the girls’ U-17 category, Anwita (42.33s), Japneet Kaur (43.07s) and Jyotsana Jain (45.23s) shined.
Anirudh Gautam (40.14s) won the 50m freestyle event of the boys’ U-11 age group, followed by Kavish Mittal (41.43s) and Aveer Gobind Singh (42.23s). In the girls’ U-11 event, Samiksha Chopra (43.26s), Yashika Sharma (50.45s) and Gulmyrah (53.24s) excelled. In the boys’ U-14 age group, Ekveer Singh (33.35s), Vitharaya (34.27s) and Brahmdeep (34.54s) bagged the top three positions, while in the girls’ U-14 group, Pehal (37.57s), Anoop (37.84s) and Prisha Bhatia (39.39s) emerged winners in that order.
Prikshit (25.97s), Gourav (29.95s) and Kanishk Maan (31.32s) won medals in the boys’ U-17 event, and in the girls’ U-17 category, Khushi Puri (31.24s), Prabhpreet Kaur (38.62s) and Swarna (41.63s) claimed the top honours. In the boys’ U-19 age group, Ekamveer Walia (26.01s), Daksh Sidhu (26.03s) and Shaurya Singh (26.63s) won medals.
