Haryana CM visits Sirsa dera, announces land, grant for Kamboj community
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini on Thursday visited the Baba Bhuman Shah Dera in Sirsa — one of the key deras in the region closely associated with the Kamboj community.
The visit was part of the 85th Shaheedi Mahasammelan held in memory of freedom fighter Udham Singh. During the event, members of the Kamboj community handed over a five-point demand letter to the Chief Minister.
CM Saini made several announcements related to land allotment, education institutions and job-related benefits for the community.
Saini paid tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh, saying that he was martyred on this day in 1940 while fighting against injustice, oppression and falsehood. His sacrifice inspired a new wave of patriotism among the people striving for India’s freedom.
He announced that a government ayurvedic college would be built in Sirsa and would be named after Baba Bhuman Shah. A feasibility report for the project would be prepared soon.
For the Kamboj community, the CM said that the state government would allot land in Panchkula. He also confirmed that a previously announced Rs 51 lakh grant will be released within 15 to 20 days. On the demand for 25 per cent reservation in Group A and B category government jobs for the Kamboj community, Saini said that the request would be forwarded to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Commission for review. He assured that efforts would be made to implement it if found feasible.
Another major announcement was the renaming of Hisar’s Suleman village to “Shaheed Udham Pura” in honour of the revolutionary Udham Singh.
CM Saini also responded to a long-standing local demand regarding irrigation. He said the state would examine the possibility of channelling water from the Ghaggar river to the Sukchain Minor through a siphon. A feasibility study would be conducted for this project as well.
The Chief Minister assured that all the demands submitted during the event would be sent to the departments concerned for necessary action.
