Himachal CM Sukhu lauds film on climate crisis

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu yesterday attended a special screening of The Last Drop, a short film highlighting the alarming issue of melting glaciers and climate change. The 25-minute film, featuring Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) fame Arunoday Sharma and directed by Dr Paras Prakash, will be officially launched during the upcoming Great Himalayan Water Festival in Shimla.

The Chief Minister lauded the initiative as a powerful medium to raise awareness, especially among the youth. He stressed that climate change is among the biggest global threats today and emphasized the need for united efforts to counter its escalating impacts.

Sukhu noted that Himachal Pradesh is already witnessing the damaging effects of global warming.

In response, the state government is rolling out an Early Warning System (EWS) aimed at enhancing real-time disaster forecasting, monitoring, and issuing timely alerts to minimize potential loss of life and property.

Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, along with Arunoday Sharma’s parents and members of the film’s production team, were also present.
