K J Somaiya College of Nursing launches a certificate program to enhance OPD coordination at P D Hinduja Hospital

New Delhi: K J Somaiya College of Nursing, in a bold step to strengthen frontline healthcare systems, has announced a specialised Certificate Program in Healthcare OPD Coordination. Developed in collaboration with K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM), the program is specially designed for P D Hinduja Hospital, one of Mumbai’s leading healthcare institutions.
Outpatient clinics are often a patient’s first point of contact, among the busiest and most resource-stressed units in a hospital. This program is developed to address that gap: improving patient experience, staff coordination, and service delivery through structured, outcome-based training. It aims to build a skilled support workforce capable of managing clinic flow, assisting physicians, and delivering care with greater efficiency.
K J Somaiya Institute of Management brings its expertise in outcome-based learning, healthcare operations, and system-level thinking to the course design. The collaboration ensures participants are not only clinically aware but also operationally prepared.
“In today’s patient-centric healthcare environment, service excellence is non-negotiable. KJSIM’s newly launched certificate program, Healthcare OPD Coordination for Hinduja Hospital, a collaborative effort with K J Somaiya College of Nursing, is a direct response to the need for structured, outcome-based training in this vital space. By equipping healthcare personnel with the right managerial and coordination skills, we aim to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the patient experience across outpatient services. This is yet another step in our commitment to transforming healthcare delivery through purpose-driven education,” said Raman Ramachandran, PhD, Dean & Director, K J Somaiya Institute of Management
“The OPD Health Coordinator course is unique in its approach as the pedagogy involves experiential learning and sharing. The curriculum is a blend of content and soft skills through activities to make learning fun,” said Dr Avani Oke, Principal, K J Somaiya College of Nursing.
Open to graduates from science or allied fields, the program combines classroom sessions with hands-on training and clinical exposure. Participants will be nominated by Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. The program commenced in July 2025 and will be jointly certified by both institutions.
“A Synergy for Excellence “P D Hinduja Hospital is proud to collaborate with K J Somaiya Institute of Management and K J Somaiya College of Nursing to launch the Certificate Program in Healthcare OPD Coordination. This initiative is crucial for cultivating a highly skilled workforce in outpatient care, enhancing both patient experience and operational efficiency. Together, we are building a more coordinated, responsive, and compassionate healthcare system for the future,” said Jagdeep Chauhan, Director HR – P D Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.
“The outpatient department in a healthcare institute is significantly important, and personnel who work here need structured multifocal training. K J Somaiya College of Nursing and K J Somaiya Institute of Management have come together in a first-of-its-kind endeavour to develop a curriculum that will facilitate the training. An approach with a component that touches a management base with other faculties would empower participants in a unique way. This will benefit personnel from single clinics as well as Hospitals with multiple outpatient clinics,” said Dr Phalakshi Manjrekar, Director Nursing – P D Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.
