TRAI earlier this year directed all major telecom companies to launch budget-friendly plans that help keep the mobile number active even without data.

Annual Recharge Plans: Earlier this year, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directed all major telecom companies Airtel, Jio, BSNL and Vodafone Idea to launch budget-friendly plans that help keep the mobile number active even without data. After this order, Airtel, Jio and Vi have launched their data-free prepaid plans in the market which are specially designed keeping in mind feature phone users and those who keep mobile for basic calling.

Airtel’s data-free plans

Airtel has introduced two such plans which do not have the facility of internet data but get the full benefit of calling and SMS. The plan with 84 days validity is available for Rs 469. It offers unlimited calling, free roaming and 900 SMS across the country. The plan with 365 days validity comes for Rs 1849. It also includes unlimited calling, free roaming and 3600 SMS throughout the year.

Jio’s long validity offers

Jio is also offering two data-free plans, whose validity is 84 days and 336 days. The 84-day plan of Rs 448 offers unlimited calling and 1000 SMS across India. At the same time, the 336-day plan of Rs 1748 also gives users the facility of calling and 3600 SMS.

Vi (Vodafone Idea) plans

Vodafone Idea has also launched two plans like Airtel. In the Rs 470 plan, users get 84 days validity. Apart from this, 365 days validity is available for Rs 1849. Both the plans offer unlimited calling and SMS, which is almost similar to Airtel’s offers.

BSNL and Vi customers decreased

According to the June report of TRAI, Vodafone Idea and BSNL have also suffered a big setback this month. Vi lost more than 2 lakh users while BSNL also lost more than 1.35 lakh customers. Both these companies lost a large number of users in May as well. In contrast, Jio and Airtel are continuously adding new customers and strengthening their position as the two largest telecom companies in the country.
