PM Modi Kashi Visit: PM Modi Pays Tribute to Chola Legacy During Varanasi Visit | ABP NEWS
During his visit to Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on a recent visit to the 1,000-year-old Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple in Tamil Nadu. Built by emperor Rajendra Chola, the temple symbolizes India’s deep-rooted Shaivite traditions and cultural unity. PM Modi highlighted how Rajendra Chola brought Ganga water to the south, symbolically linking North and South India a millennium ago. Continuing that spirit, PM Modi said he too carried Ganga Jal from Kashi to the same temple — a gesture that honored national unity through devotion. He described the ritual at the ancient temple as a sacred moment blessed by Mother Ganga and emphasized the importance of initiatives like Kashi-Tamil Sangamam in fostering cultural bonds. Modi called it a humble effort toward "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat" (One India, Great India).
