Annual award instituted in memory of Dasara elephant Arjuna; first honour to be presented on August 4 at Karnataka’s Gajapayana

In memory of Arjuna, the Dasara elephant who died during a wild elephant capture, an annual award has been created. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre will present the inaugural "Arjuna Elephant" award to mahout Gunda and Kavadi Nanjundaswamy during Gajapayana on August 4. This award recognizes their contributions to human-wildlife conflict prevention, animal capture, and elephant training.
