WATCH: Rohit Sharma makes appearance at Kennington Oval for Day 3 of India-England Test, fans can’t keep calm
India and England are currently playing the final and the fifth Test at the Kennington Oval in London. On Day 3, of the fifth Test India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma made an appearance at the stadium to enjoy the live action. He was captured while entering the stadium.
Rohit made a surprise announcement that he would be retiring from Test cricket, just a week before the selection meeting for the Test series against England. Similarly, Virat Kohli also retired from Test cricket. Both legends are now only playing ODIs going forward.
Rohit, who was India’s captain in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (2024/25) and opted out of the fifth Test due to his poor form, had previously announced that he would continue to lead India and play red-ball cricket. Four months later, he announced he was leaving Test cricket altogether.
Rohit along with Virat Kohli retired from T20Is following the 2024 World Cup victory. Both Rohit and Virat will continue playing the one-day format, and are confirmed to participate in the 2027 ODI world Cup.
India extend their lead to 100+
Talikng about the match, India has extended their lead to 135 on Day 3, thanks to an impressive partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and nightwatchman Akash Deep. Akash Deep brought up his maiden Test half-century and put India in the driver’s seat.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is leading the charge as he has crossed the 50-run mark and is now aiming for a century. With three days still remaining and with India wanting to take a lead of 400, it is important to remember that the first Test match, the England team chased down a 371 runs. The home team lead the five-match series 2 to 1.
