Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests Inspector, clerk for taking Rs 30L bribe
The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SVACB) team has caught a private school clerk for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 30 lakh. The team also arrested a Delhi police Inspector in the case. The clerk allegedly took the money on the directions of the Inspector.
Both accused were presented before the court on Saturday and were sent to one-day police remand.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep, a clerk and a resident of Roorkee village in Rohtak district, and Inspector Sunil Kumar. The clerk was working at the school of the brother of the Inspector.
Vipin Kumar of Badwasni, in his complaint to the ACB, Rohtak, said two cases were registered against his relative, Praveen Lakra, at Alipur police station in Delhi. Lakra, who is a property dealer, had a dispute with another property dealer in Delhi. The investigation went to Inspector Sunil Kumar, whom he met at the investigation unit on July 25. He allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore for removing his relative’s name from one FIR and to reduce the sections from the second FIR. The deal was finalised at Rs 70 lakh and he was told to hand over part of the money to Sandeep.
The complainant recorded the voice calls, in which the Inspector was demanding a bribe. Following the complaint, the joint team of Sonepat and Rohtak laid a trap and nabbed Sandeep from the school and recovered Rs 30 lakh from him. Another team arrested the Inspector from Delhi.
