CM Rekha Gupta unveils solar-powered, digital Assembly in landmark green reform Push
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, CM Gupta said this transformation is more than a technological upgrade — it is a landmark administrative reform. “This is not just a political shift after 27 years; it is a new era of policy transformation and governance overhaul,” she said, referring to the BJP forming a government in Delhi after nearly three decades.
The digitalisation of Assembly operations, she said has been made possible through financial support from the Centre and coordinated efforts by the Delhi government. “From now on, all legislative work in the Delhi Assembly will be conducted through digital means, giving a new impetus to both the pace and quality of policymaking,” she added.
In another significant development, CM Gupta also announced that a 500-kW solar power plant has been installed within the Assembly complex, making it fully solar-powered. “This initiative will establish the Assembly as a model legislature and position Delhi as a leader in sustainable energy solutions,” she noted.
Highlighting her government’s focus on reforms, the Chief Minister said Delhi is now undergoing systemic transformation, with policy changes backed by strong implementation mechanisms.
She cited recent amendments to the Shops and Establishments Act under the government’s 24×7 Establishment Policy, which now allow women to work beyond 9 p.m. in Delhi.
The CM also revealed that the Education Reform Bill will be tabled during the upcoming Assembly session.
“From addressing small issues like potholes and waterlogging to implementing major policy decisions, we are accelerating change at every level. This is not just development; it is the establishment of a new work ethic,” she said.
