Developer Gill targeted for rejecting AAP: Ashwani Sharma
Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma on Saturday alleged that Gillco Valley proprietor Ranjit Singh Gill was targeted by the AAP government as the realtor rejected the ruling outfit’s overtures and joined his party after quitting the SAD.
“Earlier they were trying to cajole Gill into joining AAP. As he was impressed with PM Narendra Modi’s ideology, he chose the BJP over AAP. That is why he is being targeted,” said Sharma as he slammed Vigilance raids at multiple properties linked to the realtor.
Sharma also alleged that AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, senior leader Manish Sisodia have “taken control of the state and plundering its resources for their own vested interests”.
“It’s for the first time that the state is being managed from Delhi. Local AAP leaders have been turned into puppets.” Said Sharma addressing a party rally organised by senior BJP leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi.
“Punjabis will not tolerate this incursion by external elements and will give a befitting reply to them in the 2027 state polls,” he added.
The BJP leader also alleged that AAPP leaders were trying to grab farmers’ fertile land through the land pooling policy. “We stand with farmers and won’t let the government acquire an inch of their land,” Sharma said, adding that his party would launch a statewide stir against it.
He also slammed ruling AAP for not fulfilling its promise of proving all women aged 18 and above a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000.
