Malayalam film actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas, was found dead in a hotel room in Chottanikkara on Friday evening. According to police, hotel staff alerted the authorities after finding him unconscious. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors announced him dead, as per PTI. A post-mortem was conducted at Kalamassery’s Government Medical College Hospital to discover the cause of death. According to Times Digital, it is reported that he suffered a cardiac arrest; still no confirmation from the medical team or his family has been received.

Who was Kalabhavan Navas?

Born in a village of Wadakkancherry, Kalabhavan was son of veteran Malayalam actor, Aboobacker, and his mother, originally from Ernakulam, was a homemaker. The actor was married to Rehana, who starred in a few films and television serials like Andolanam, Dada Sahib, Lelam. The couple has three children- Naharin, Rihan, and Ridwan.

Kalabhavan made a mark in the Malayalam industry with his acclaimed performances in numerous films and TV series such as Mimics Action 500 (1995), Hitler Brothers (1997), Junior Mandrake (1997), Mattupetti Machan and Amma Ammaayiyamma (1998), Chandamama (1999), and Thillana Thillana (2003).

He starred his acting career with the 1995 film Chaithanyam. He garnered popularity mostly for his comic performances. Beyond acting, he was known for his versatility as a mimicry artist and playback singing.

Kalabhavan Navas was found unconscious in a hotel room

According to Manorama News, Kalabhavan was staying at the hotel in Chottanikkara for the shooting of the Malayalam film Prakambanam. The actor was scheduled to check-out on Friday evening. However, when he did not arrive at the reception, the hotel staff went to check and found him unconscious in his room.

Later last night, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences. The CM in his condolence message, expressed admiration for the late actor, and how he won affection of his audience through some spectacular work.
